Pope Francis Begins Historic Trip To Arab Countries, Lands In UAE

Pope Francis will arrive in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) later on Sunday, becoming the first pontiff to visit the Arabian peninsula.
BBC reported the Pope has been invited by Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan to take part in an interfaith conference
He will hold a Mass on Tuesday that is expected to draw 120,000 people.

Uncollected PVCs set ablaze as hoodlums attack INEC office

Several uncollected permanent voter cards have been set ablaze by unknown persons who broke into the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abia State in the early hours of today February 3rd.
Over 15,000 uncollected PVCs were burnt as well as the register containing the number of registered voters.
The state police say investigations have commenced and the culprits will be apprehended soon.

Presidency Orders Investigation Into Crash-landing Incident Involving Osinbajo’s Helicopter

Osinbajo was aboard the chopper, on his way to Kogi for a campaign rally, when the helicopter crash-landed in Kabba.
While landing at the Kabba Stadium, the helicopter is said to have “suddenly skidded sideways, until it halted on its side few metres away from the intended resting spot”.
Also aboard the chopper were the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Professor Stephen Ocheni, senior presidential aides, security officials and the crew, bringing the total number of people on board to 12. Everyone disembarked safely.

UI leads in West Africa — ranks 141 among varsities in emerging economies

The ranking, which was published by the Times Higher Education, shows that Covenant University came in as the second best university in Nigeria, and 151 among emerging economies.
Nigeria’s premier university, which ranked 141 has been on strike for 88 days.
Of the 442 universities ranked from 43 countries, only three Universities featured from Nigeria, with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, completing the trio.
India is still the second most-represented country with 49 institutions included, up from 42.
