Arsenal goal keeper Petr Cech to retire at the end of the season

Arsenal goalie Petr Cech is retiring at the end of the season.

The 36-year-old keeper made the announcement on social media on Tuesday.

Cech started the season as Arsenal’s number one in the Premier League. However Cech has since lost his place in the team, while he’s only made seven Premier League appearances this year.

Cech has also played twice apiece in the League Cup and Europa League.

Why Arsenal’s keeper is hanging up his gloves

Petr Cech spelled out his reasons for ending his football career:

I have read and agree to the 101 Great Goals Privacy Policy

This is my 20th season as a professional player and it has been 20 years since I signed my first professional contract, so it feels like the right time to announce that I will retire at the end of the season.

Having played 15 years in the Premier League, and won every single trophy possible, I feel like I have achieved everything I set out to achieve.
