Read a book

Reading is a great way to master a skill, at your own pace. You can do it in the privacy of your home and test proven strategies to deliver a great speech. It’s the most stress-free way of becoming familiar with a concept.

Practice with someone

When it comes to public speaking, knowing the theory is not enough. You have to practice! You can go even further in your learning by delivering a speech (or a script) in front of someone. Whether it be a friend, a speech coach or a colleague, find someone who will listen to you and offer constructive criticism. You will get their individualized attention, which can help you improve in subtle areas like how to be more concise or better articulate certain thoughts.

Join a mastermind group

What’s a better way to learn something than surrounding yourself with people who are trying to learn the same thing? Challenge yourself even more by joining a speaking club! You and the members will take turns at taking the stage, which will give you a lot more experience. A group like this can help you figure out how apply public speaking to your next career move or how to deliver a talk to different audiences. The feedback you will receive from your peers will be invaluable!
